CONNECTION CENTERS - a Winning Partnership

Because food banks are one of the first places people go for help when they are in need our Outreach Specialists staff satelite offices, or Connection Centers, at FISH Food Banks.  SSO staff are available during most FISH Food Bank hours.

Connection Centers offer a single point of entry for dozens of community resources, government subsidies, medical and housing options, foreclosure prevention, financial education and credit counseling.

To better address long-term needs of its clients we joined forces with FISH Food Banks and developed Connection Centers at FISH's busiest food bank locations across Pierce County. In 2011 FISH Food Banks saw a 25% increase in demand.  The need continues to grow and clients need options and an advocate to help sort out a plan of action.

Most food bank clients need additional resources to move toward self-sufficiency. Connection Centers give us this opportunity.

We see people with one immediate need but we work with them and provide an array of resources to help meet needs for the long term and help guide clients towards independent and sustainable living.
