About Us

History

In 1996, Senior Outreach Services was launched to fill a gap in the availability of outreach services to seniors and people with disabilities in Pierce County.

In 2001 the organization broadened its services, becoming South Sound Outreach Services (SSOS).

While maintaining our focus on serving seniors and people with disabilities, we embraced a “no wrong door” approach to anyone seeking assistance.

In 2011 we shortened our name to South Sound Outreach and unveiled a new logo.

Convenient Locations

We continually adapt our program delivery to meet the needs of the Pierce County community.

Transportation is a barrier for many of our clients. When people can't get to services providers, they often miss out on programs and services that lead to sustainable lifestyles.

Our outreach specialists visit 46 locations across the county - including senior centers, food banks, meal sites, and community centers.

Our innovative Connection Centers allow us to offer outreach services every week at FISH Food Bank locations throughout the county.
